The IBE city Heerlen is located in the south of the Netherlands. To the west, Heerlen is 20 km from the Belgian border and to the east Heerlen is at about 10 km from the German border. About 25 km south is Maastricht, the most southern city in the Netherlands.

Heerlen has a central train station at about 20 minutes from the German City Aachen and at about 15 minutes from Maastricht.
